"...a woman clothed with the sun..."
(Rev 12:1) "And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:"
With today's astronomy programs it's possible to re-create the various alignments of the constellations and planets on any given day. So we became curious as to what John may have been witnessing when he saw this "great wonder" in heaven. The picture below in no way does justice to what John may have seen, but yet a glimpse of beauty is still there.
We are not attempting to set dates, but the alignment below was chosen because the placement of the sun was directly behind Virgo at the same time that the moon was at her feet, giving the desired effect that we were searching for. Note that the "crown of twelve stars" is not in this picture, as we are only trying to show the "clothing" of Virgo by the sun.
